Office of the Chancellor
The Office of the Chancellor acts in the name of the bishop as the official ecclesial notary, and head archivist of the diocese.
The Office is also delegated to deal with permissions and dispensations for those preparing for marriage.
The Office is also delegated to give permission for speakers (including priests) coming from outside the diocese.
Priests may also need various forms which are available from the Chancery Office as well.
In every curia a chancellor is to be appointed whose principle function is to take care that acts of the curia are gather arranged, and safeguarded ... By reason of being chancellor and vice-chancellor they are notaries and secretaries of the curia (Excerts from Canon 482 of the Code of Canon Law).
