The purpose of the Archives of the Diocese of Calgary is to collect, preserve, and make available for organizational decision-making and historical research:
- the official records of the Diocese
- those ancillary records which reflect the work of the Church within the Diocese
The main function of the Archives is to serve the administrative needs of the Bishop and the Diocese but it also seeks to tell the story of the Catholic community and provide material for future scholarly research, following the precepts of Canon Law and the democratic values and civil laws of Canada.
The Archives seeks to promote an understanding of the origins, achievements, and goals of the Diocese as reflected in the work of its official agencies, institutions and offices.
