Christian stewardship is the recognition and internalization that everything we are and everything we have comes from God. This causes an "attitude of gratitude" to grow in us. This gratitude causes a transformation within us from reactively giving to needs to proactively needing to give. Stewardship is not a program. Stewardship is a way of life that is, in essence, a life of poverty. Christian stewardship is radically counter-cultural (as is Christianity) in that, contrary to western culture, Christian stewardship focuses on the fact that we own nothing, not even our lives. Therefore, stewards live with a deep sense of joyful poverty regardless of our possessions. We are stewards entrusted by God to manage for the glory of God everything we have and everything we are.
